Story Title: Custard Apples

Originating from the equatorial regions of South America, custard apples are a great source of natural plant chemicals that act as antioxidants in your system.

• The custard apple grows well in colder climates.
• If you’re interested in growing your own tree, head to a fruit tree specialist such as Tas 1 Trees.
• The KJ’s Pink custard apple is self-fertile, meaning you’ll get lots of fruit. Make sure to plant it in an area with ants, as they will pollinate for you.
• The tree should be planted in a brightly lit area in a free-draining soil. If you have heavy soils, plant them in a mound. The hole should be twice as wide as the plant roots, and a bit deeper.
• Pop the plant into the hole and fill around the outside with the planting mix – this will encourage rapid establishment. Once planted, water it in.
• Growing custard apples requires good soil, ideally rich and organic.
• Custard apple is creamy and smooth – it’s very sweet and goes well with ice cream.
